Flight test guides
A series of Flight Test Guides (FTGs), each including a Flight Test Report Guide (FTRG), are presented via the following links. The first two FTGs listed below are also available in an additional word format which incorporates embedded excel data tables and charts. Please contact the CASA FT&E Section to obtain a copy in this format.
These guides are intended as optional additional references for manufacturers, amateur-builders, test pilots (TPs), CASA evaluation engineers and authorised persons. They are not regulatory in nature and are not meant to replace authoritative advisory or guidance material.
The Generic Flight Test Report Guide for Certification Compliance Assessment of Simple Light Fixed Wing Aircraft includes background information and guidance for planning or checking compliance with those parts of a simple airworthiness standard requiring flight tests and pilot judgements. It presents a FTRG that can be used as the basis for producing either a general flight test report or one specifically aimed at satisfying the type certification process (CASR 21.035 refers).
The Flight Test Guide for Assessment of Amateur-Built Aircraft Accepted under an ABAA is a revised and updated version of the previously published ‘Flight Test Guide for Certification of CAO 101.28 Aeroplanes’. It provides information and guidance for checking compliance with those parts of CAO 101.28 requiring flight tests and pilot judgements.
A number of additional, superseded, FTGs (e.g. Generic Amateur Built Aircraft; JAR-VLA Certification) are available on request. This includes report AF-56 Flight Test Guide for Certification of CAO 101.55 Aeroplanes which can be used with respect to ultra-light aircraft. Contact the FT&E Section for more information.
