Civil aircraft register

The Civil Aviation Safety Authority (CASA) is responsible, on behalf of the Commonwealth of Australia, for the registration of civilian aircraft in Australia.

We manage the maintenance of aircraft registration records, including channels where you can view or download publicly available aircraft data.

In this section you can:

  • search information on registered aircraft, including registration marks
  • find out how to submit, update or cancel registration of your aircraft
  • download the full dataset of registered aircraft.

Aircraft register search

Search our register for details on aircraft included in our database.

Information for each aircraft include:

  • owner/registration holder
  • registered operator
  • registration marks
  • aircraft manufacturer
  • aircraft model
  • aircraft serial number
  • number of engines
  • other details.

Aircraft registration

All aircraft flying within Australia must be included in the Australian Civil Aircraft Register unless they are exempt by the regulations.

Our guidelines on aircraft registration give you information on:

  • how to register your aircraft
  • cancelling your registration
  • fees and forms
  • gliders.

Aircraft register data files

You may download aircraft data files in CSV or Excel format.

Read our guidelines on downloading files.

Registration marks

Registered aircraft are assigned a unique identifier called registration marks.

You must reserve a registration mark before you can apply to use it on an aircraft.

View the list of available marks.

Submit an application to change a registration mark.

Individuals or organisations engaged in the manufacture, sales or distribution of aircraft in Australia can apply to be assigned dealer marks.

Irrevocable Deregistration and Export Request Authorisation (IDERA)

In some cases an aircraft may have an Irrevocable Deregistration  and Export Request Authorisation (IDERA) recorded.

The rules on aircraft registration are contained in Part 45 and Part 47 of the Civil Aviation Safety Regulations 1998.
