Carriage and discharge of firearms from an aircraft
What you need to know
Selected agencies or individuals who carry firearms or discharge firearms from an aircraft in Australia must hold one of the following permissions:
- Carriage and discharge of firearms – Government employee/Associated agency - If you are an employee of a government or associated agency who is required to carry or discharge a firearm as part of your employment, you must have the appropriate permissions.
- Carriage of firearms or carriage and discharge of firearms – Commercial or private operations - If you are a commercial or private operator who carries firearms and discharges firearms as part of your operations, you must have the appropriate permissions.
How to apply
To apply for carriage and discharge of firearms permissions, you will need to complete and submit the appropriate form.
Government employee or associated agency
Commercial or private operators
Commercial and private operators will need to provide operating procedures that address the appropriate criteria for carriage and discharge of firearms permissions.
Submitting your application
Completed applications should be emailed to the CASA regional office the operation is being conducted within.
Renewal applications should be submitted at least 30 days prior to the expiry of your current permission to allow adequate time for CASA to assess and renew your permission.
