Our environmental management system
Our environmental management system (EMS) is a tool designed to improve our environmental performance and reduce the environmental impact of our operations.
There are five key elements in our management system and they guide the ongoing improvement in our environmental performance.
Our environmental sustainability policy formalises our commitment to environmental protection, and provides a framework for continuing improvement in our environmental performance.
We plan our environmental targets and objectives to reduce our ecological footprint and develop programs to meet them.
Checking and corrective action
We continually evaluate our environmental performance to ensure that our environmental objectives, targets and policy commitments are being met.
Our EMS is reviewed regularly to assess it's effectiveness in achieving CASA's environmental objectives and targets, and to explore opportunities for continual improvement.
Implementation and operations
We ensure support mechanisms and capabilities are in place to implement and reach our environmental goals.
We have defined our environmental roles and responsibilities, maintain procedures covering the environmental effects of operations, provide appropriate training, and encouraging environmental awareness among staff.
Reviewing our policy
We review our policy regularly to make sure it’s still meeting our environmental objectives and targets. We also evaluate our environmental performance against the commitments of our policy.
Our environmental management system must be periodically audited by an external body, to gain and maintain certification to AS/NZS ISO 14001.
