Assistance for Remotely Piloted Aircraft Operator's Certificate holders during COVID-19
The actions of various levels of government to stop the spread of COVID-19 are evolving rapidly and I am conscious that you will have many challenges in front of you as you adapt to this changing environment.
CASA is well aware of the impact of COVID-19 on many of your businesses, and we are continuing to provide our full range of regulatory services. We are also putting in place a suite of measures to alleviate some pressure on Australian operators while ensuring the ongoing safety of aviation.
To assist the RPAS industry:
- all RPA operator certificates will be extended for 6 months, unless you are currently subject to CASA enforcement. You will not need to do anything to get the benefit of this extension.
- for those operators transitioning to the new requirements in the CASR Part 101 MOS, CASA anticipates delaying certain proposed commencement dates for elements of Chapter 2 (for training organisations) and elements of Chapter 10 (record keeping requirements) by 6 months. Further details about these initiatives will be provided soon.
For now, we ask you to continue requesting the regulatory services you need using our existing channels. These can be found on CASA’s website and through the myCASA portal for those services offered online.
Rest assured we will be as flexible as possible in these difficult times to assist the industry to maintain operations and to seek new business opportunities.
If you have any queries or concerns, please email email@example.com and we will respond to you as soon as possible.
