Team leader aerodromes
Aerodromes team 1 section, Sydney airport
As aerodrome team leader at Sydney airport, no day is ever the same. I first started with CASA in 2009 and today I lead multiple teams conducting surveillance at airports and aerodromes across Australia - Sydney being one of our busiest and most complex operators.
In recent years, part of my job has been to drive the direction of CASA's regulatory systems away from a compliance-based approach to one of a risk assessment approach. What I enjoy most about my job is improving the levels of safety performance to allowing for new technology to be applied and the aviation community to enjoy greater responsibility.
My focus as an aerodrome inspector is not only on the people in the front seat but also on the people in the back. CASA's safety standards are delivering a best-practice approach to ensure the level of risk and hazards are managed on behalf of others to guarantee passengers depart and arrive safely.
Due the technical nature of my job it doesn't matter who you are or where you're from - aerodrome management is a career choice that can be achieved with the right education.
CASA has provided a fantastic avenue for the growth of my civil aviation career and I work with specialised team members who share a like-minded passion. Completing my Masters in Aviation Management will enable me to look at how we can improve our business operations and safety management in airports and aerodromes across Australia.
I am excited to be moving forward with CASA's new direction and I encourage people who are looking for an exciting career in the aviation industry to get on board.
