Manufacturing and certification familiarisation workshop
CASA's Manufacturing and Certification sections
CASA's Manufacturing and Certification sections facilitate regular seminars and workshops to provide guidance and education forums to the aviation engineering and manufacturing industry.
The Manufacturing section responsibilities include:
- Oversight of manufacturing organisations with production approvals under CASR Part 21
- Oversight of persons issued with Instruments of Authorisation to provide services related to the aviation manufacturing industry.
- Assessment of applications for new, or changes to existing production approvals under CASR Part 21.
- Issueing of production approvals under CASR Part 21.
- Providing expert advice and instructions - to CASA and the Australian aviation industry - on aircraft and aircraft parts production matters.
- Development of policy and standards in relation to certification of aircraft and aeronautical products.
- Provision of project management of certification projects.
- Oversight of design approval delegates and design organisations
- Issues design and airworthiness approvals and certificates.
The workshop
This one-and-a-half day workshop will include a combined manufacturing and certification session on the first day, and two separate workshop sessions on the second morning.
Arrival Tea & Coffee, Morning Tea, Lunch and Afternoon tea will be supplied on Day 1, and Arrival Tea & Coffee and Morning tea will be supplied on Day 2.

- Safety Management System
- Human Factors
- Production Approval Types
- Other Engineering Certificate Type topics
- Continuing Airworthiness and Conformity Matters
Manufacturing topics for the second day include;
- FAA / BASA and EASA Agreement
- CASA Audits and Supplier control
Certification topics for the first day include:
- Certification Delegation
- Major Certification Projects
- Harmonisation of design approvals
Certification topics for the second day include:
- Approval of role equipment
- Design and maintenance data approval regulations (CAR35, 42ZS, 2A etc)
- Inappropriate use of CAR 35 - case studies
- Design approval process
- CASA Audit Elements for CAR 35 and CAR 30 Design Organisations

Thursday 1 May 9:00am to 5:30pm with registration starting from 8:30am
Friday 2 May 9:00am to 12:30pm
We will also be holding a cocktail party on the evening of 1st May between 6:00-7:00pm.
