General
We are keeping these newsletters brief to make it easier for you. We hope you are agreeable to this style. You should receive a separate MRS Online newsletter this week.
John Putland will be taking up a position in the private sector beginning early November. CASA is very grateful for the valuable contribution John has made to AvMed this year and we are very sorry that he is leaving.
The PMO position will be advertised in the media shortly.
Applications for Reappointment
If you have not made your application for reappointment, please do so without delay. Contact your liaison officer (Netty or Walid) if you have any questions about your reappointment.
If you have decided not to be reappointed, you are still obligated to notify CASA of your resignation in writing and return your DAME/DAO stamp.
DAME Handbook Review
Tak Sham will be visiting CAA NZ on 5 November to attend the next workshop on the handbook. The subject is “depression and antidepressant medication”.
We hosted the last workshop which focussed on Gastroenterology. The revised chapter is in the final stages of editing and will be available shortly.
ASAM Queensland Regional Meeting – 16/17 October
John Putland and Roger Crosthwaite attended the meeting in Kingaroy. John gave a case study presentation. The meeting suggested CASA provide brief cases in the newsletter to help inform DAMEs and DAOs. We agreed to pursue this as a good way of disseminating information on difficult cases and how CASA is handling them.
Several MRS Online issues were raised at the meeting. CASA is working through them now. See separate newsletter on MRS Online for details.
AMSANZ (NSW) Annual Dinner, Annual General Meeting and Seminar ? Sydney 13th and 14th November
See website for further details.
Administration - paper forms
When you mount an ECG please make sure the trace fits within the limits of an A4 sized page. The scanner only handles up to A4 pages. Your assistance in this would be greatly appreciated by the processing team.
Updated forms are in production now. There are minor changes to the forms such as placing the perforation at the bottom of the form rather than the top. This will make it easier to scan the documents. Other changes include setting the threshold for blood pressure to 150/90, which is in line with the DAME Handbook. Also, the tear off slip on the original medical form will not appear on the new form.
