Review of Australian ADs

Since the 1950s, CASA has issued Airworthiness Directives (ADs) to address unsafe conditions on aircraft and aeronautical equipment. These ADs have been based on State of Design ADs, manufacturer’s service bulletins, foreign airworthiness legislation, and service defects. CASA has about 10,000 active ADs and many of these ADs are unique to Australia. Currently , CASA is reviewing  these unique ADs with the objective of cancelling ADs that are no longer required or no longer address an unsafe condition.

Also, as all State of Design ADs issued after 1 October 2009 are now mandatory, CASA is also conducting an audit of State of Design ADs issued before 1 October 2009 to ensure that these ADs have been raised by CASA.
