ICAO Guidance Document for the shipment by air of Infectious Substances

During 2005 the International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO) made amendments to the requirements for the transport of infectious substances by air. These reflect changes made to the “Recommendations on the Transport of Dangerous Goods Model Regulations” produced by the United Nations (UN).

ICAO introduced these changes as addenda to the 2005-2006 edition of the “ICAO Technical Instructions for the Safe Transport of Dangerous Goods by Air” (TI). While the TI is the source document called up under Australian legislation, industry generally uses the “International Air Transport Association Dangerous Goods Regulations” (IATA DGR), which has had corresponding addenda issued.
