Pre-requisite Qualifications

The listed pre-requisite qualifications are Australian qualifications necessary to sit the respective CASA flight crew exams. The candidate is not permitted to self-assess what other (unlisted) pre-requisite qualifications may be acceptable as 'equivalent'.

The term 'full exam pass' in the pre-requisite qualification means that the complete set of seven subject-part exams for either CPL or ATPL exam has been passed within the required time period.

Important: Prior to sitting the CASA conversion exams, to convert an overseas licence (issued by ICAO contracting States) into the Australian equivalent, the holders must submit certified true copies of their overseas licences to Flight Crew Licensing at CASA Head Office in Canberra for assessment.

The term 'valid' in the pre-requisite qualification means the licence must not have any restriction, limitation or suspension imposed on the holder by the issuing authority.

The term 'higher' licence means that, for the PPL conversion exam, the pre-requisite qualification may also be either a CPL or an ATPL of the same aircraft category, and for the CPL conversion exam, it may be an ATPL.

CASA does not recognize overseas exam pass(es), therefore only a valid flight crew licence would be accepted as a pre-requisite qualification.
