Project CS 08/11
Proposed amendments to Advisory Circular 21-45 - Airworthiness approval of airborne automatic dependent surveillance broadcast equipment
Closure note
Project closed 29 February 2012.
AC 21-45(1) has been published.
Background
Advisory Circular 21-45 is closely alined to Australian Technical Standard Order - ATSO C1004 and C1005 which were originally issued in 2003/2004. With continuing development of technology, the reference material from RTCA that the ATSO were based on has been superseded. To ensure consistency, the ATSO need to be updated to reflect the new requirements that are recognised internationally.
If the ATSO are not updated, Australian manufacturers are at risk of designing equipment that will not provide the functionality expected by air traffic control.
There is no legislative impact.
Purpose/Objectives
Updating of the advisory material in AC 21-45 to align with the revised ATSO.
Updating of the current ATSO to reflect the latest performance standards issued by RTCA and adopted internationally.
