Yak 52W

ykw.jpg

This is the only Yak 52W currently in Australia. It resides at Red Star Aviation at Camden Airport NSW.

The W signifies that it is a westernized version of the popular Yak 52. This is a brand new aircraft and it differs substantially from the standard Yak 52 in that it is fitted with a three blade MT prop, all western instruments, wheels and brakes, has long range fuel tanks (4.5 hours). It has all metal control surfaces, luggage compartment and night lighting.

The paint scheme on the aircraft is that of the top scoring allied fighter ace of WW2, Ivan Kozedub of the Red Air Force, who was also twice decorated as a Hero of the Soviet Union (which is sort of like winning two V.C.s). It is owned by Lindsay J Sinclair.
