Office of Airspace Regulation

Airspace Audits & Monitoring

Airspace audits are undertaken to ensure the integrity of the airspace architecture.

The OAR is responsible for ensuring that declared airspace is fit for purpose, and compliant in terms of accuracy and legal standing.  The audit process is the OAR's means of fulfilling this responsibility.

Audit Programme

A routine audit programme has been established by the OAR to check the accuracy of Australian airspace on a cyclic basis.  The process involves ensuring that the instrument establishing the airspace is valid, the airspace activity is still relevant and all associated documentation and charts are correct.

In addition to audits undertaken within the audit cycle, an audit may be generated by a change to airspace activity within a particular airspace volume.

The OAR aims to conduct an audit on the entire airspace architecture over a rolling five year cycle.
