Changing the rules

Project AS 06/13
Conversion of CAAPs 89I-1(2), 89R-1(1) and 89W-1(0) to ACs 139-12(0), 139-06(0) and 139-07(0)

Purpose/Objectives

Civil Aviation Advisory Publications (CAAPs) are issued in association with the 1988 Civil Aviation Regulations (CARs), whereas Advisory Circulars (ACs) are issued under the new Civil Aviation Safety Regulations (CASRs).

This project sets out to convert the following aerodrome CAAPs to ACs:

  • CAAP 89I-1(2) - Safety distances for explosive laden aircraft to AC 139-12(0) - Safety distances for explosive laden aircraft
  • CAAP 89R-1(1) Use of restricted operations (dumb-bell) ground signals to AC 139-06(0) Use of restricted operations ground signals
  • CAAP 89W-1(0) Guidelines on provision of obstacle information for take-off flight planning purposes to AC 139-07(0) Guidelines on provision of obstacle information for take-off flight planning purposes.

The above CAAPs were originally issued before the promulgation of CASR Part 139 Aerodromes. Their conversion to ACs is required in order to perpetuate the contents of the CAAPs which remain highly relevant to Part 139 services and operations.
