Project AS 06/09
Revision of Section 14.2 of the MOS for CASR Part 139 - Certified Air/Ground Radio Operators (CA/GRO)

Purpose/Objectives

This project sets out to revise the processes and requirements involved in the certification of Certified Air/Ground Operators (CA/GROs), the CA/GRO competency standard, plus a proposed training course syllabus.

The proposed new qualification requirements represent a relaxation of the existing requirements which limit certification to persons who hold or have held an Air Traffic Control or Flight Service Officer licence. It is CASA's intention to widen the eligibility to persons who have the prerequisite aeronautical knowledge of a pass in the CASA PPL theory examination (or higher pilot examination). Such persons would also be required to undertake a specialised course of training that addresses the competency standards for CA/GROs prior to certification.
