CASR Part 22 – Airworthiness standards for sailplanes and powered sailplanes

CASR Part 22 was developed to specify the airworthiness standards for sailplanes (such as gliders) and powered sailplanes (such as motorised gliders):

  • Utility category sailplanes and powered sailplanes — these are sailplanes and powered sailplanes intended for normal soaring flight including limited acrobatic operation.
  • Acrobatic category sailplanes and powered sailplanes — these are sailplanes and powered sailplanes intended for acrobatic operation.

Who Part 22 affects

CASR Part 22 affects people who:

  • design sailplanes and powered sailplanes to be used in the Australian aviation environment, or
  • design modifications and repairs for sailplanes and powered sailplanes.
