Purpose/Objectives

Instrument number CASA 127/95 Appointment of persons to issue maintenance releases — Regulation 43 currently provides, under paragraph 6 (1) (b) of CAR 1988, the appointment of each person included in the class of persons (specified in column 3 of the item). The instrument (CASA 127/95) is 9 years old and is considered overdue for replacement.

CASA's Regulatory Services Branch and Legal Services Group have identified a significant problem in the instrument which requires immediate attention. It is further considered that it is inappropriate for such an important function to rely on a little-known instrument of this kind and that this function should be located in a Civil Aviation Order (CAO).

Accordingly, this project sets out to amend CAO 100.5 to incorporate the appointment in the maintenance suite of the CASRs.
