Calling Adelaide's pilots - it's time to learn!

Adelaide's pilots are being offered a special chance to learn how to fly more safely - for free!

The Civil Aviation Safety Authority (CASA) is running a day-long Flight Safety Forum this Saturday in Adelaide.

The Flight Safety Forum covers a range of essential issues pilots need to understand to make flying even safer.

These include learning from other people's mistakes, setting your own standards, legal responsibilities, the risks in low flying and changes to search and rescue arrangements.

A special presentation will also tell aspiring airline pilots how to win that elusive job with a major operator.

CASA's Assistant Director Aviation Safety Promotion, Mike Smith, says all pilots need to update their knowledge and skills regularly.

"Aviation is a learning industry and CASA is striving to be at the forefront of the education and information drive," Mr Smith says.

"This Sunday's Flight Safety Forum gives pilots the opportunity to learn from a wide range of experts and to share knowledge with colleagues.

"The Forum is open to all pilots with all levels of experience and it's absolutely free.

"The topics we'll cover are diverse and interesting - ranging from the legal obligations of pilots to the special skills needed to fly vintage aircraft.

"As an added incentive to come along there'll be lucky door prizes, including a GPS unit, and discounts on aviation products and publications."

Details of the Adelaide Flight Safety Forum are:
