Casino and Lismore Air Safety Workshops

Special air safety workshops for local pilots are being held in Casino and Lismore this week.

The Civil Aviation Safety Authority is staging a free AvSafety workshop in Casino on Wednesday 10 September and in Lismore on Thursday 11 September.

The workshops are being run in conjunction with the Casino and Northern Rivers aero clubs and will look at key air safety issues - including pilot skills and flying at airports without air traffic control facilities.

Experts from CASA will make presentations on these topics and lead discussions about a range of local air safety issues.

CASA’s Peter Gibson says the workshops are part of a national regional air safety campaign and will help to improve safety at Casino and Lismore and throughout the Northern Rivers region.

"Giving pilots from Casino, Lismore and the local region extra training will lift their safety skills to even higher levels," Mr Gibson says.

"All pilots receive comprehensive training but these workshops mean they will be even better equipped to fly safely at all times and deal with emergencies.

"The Northern Rivers region has a good air safety record but accidents do happen and everyone in aviation must keep working hard to make the local skies safe."

Both workshops start at 6pm at the local aero club. All local pilots are urged to attend.

CASA is hosting a free BBQ on the nights for everyone who takes part in the workshops.
