Launceston Air Safety Workshop

A special air safety workshop for local pilots is being held in Launceston this week.

The Civil Aviation Safety Authority is staging the free AvSafety workshop in Launceston on Thursday 10 July 2008.

The workshop is being run in conjunction with the Tasmanian Aero Club.

Pilots will be given extra training in a range of key safety areas, including situational awareness and operations at local aerodromes.

CASA’s Peter Gibson says the workshop is part of a national regional air safety campaign and will help to improve safety at Launceston and throughout Northern Tasmania.

“Giving pilots from Launceston and Northern Tasmania extra training will lift their safety skills to even higher levels,” Mr Gibson says.

“All pilots receive comprehensive training but this workshop means they will be even better equipped to fly safely at all times and deal with emergencies.

“Launceston and Northern Tasmania have a good air safety record but accidents do happen and everyone in aviation must keep working hard to make the local skies safe.”

The workshop is being held at the Tasmanian Aero Club on Thursday 10 July from 6pm.

All local pilots are urged to attend.

CASA is hosting a free BBQ on the night for everyone who takes part in the workshop.
