Innisfail Air Safety Workshop

A special air safety workshop for local pilots is being held in Innisfail this week.

The Civil Aviation Safety Authority is staging the free AvSafety workshop in Innisfail on Tuesday 17 June 2008.

The workshop will look at key air safety issues, including operations at local aerodromes and pilot skills and performance.

Experts from CASA will make presentations on these topics and lead discussions about a range of local safety issues.

CASA’s Peter Gibson says the workshop is part of a national regional air safety campaign and will help to improve safety at Innisfail and throughout Far North Queensland.

“Giving pilots from Innisfail extra training will lift their safety skills to even higher levels,” Mr Gibson says.

“All pilots receive comprehensive training but this workshop means they will be even better equipped to fly safely at all times and deal with emergencies.

“The Innisfail has a good air safety record but accidents do happen and everyone in aviation must keep working hard to make the local skies safe.”

The workshop is being held at the Innisfail Aero Club on Tuesday 17 June from 6pm.

All local pilots are urged to attend.

CASA is hosting a free BBQ on the night for everyone who takes part in the workshop.
