Goondiwindi Joins National Air Safety Campaign
Goondiwindi will this week host a special workshop for local pilots as part of a national air safety campaign.
The Civil Aviation Safety Authority is staging the free AvSafety workshop at the McIntyre Aero Club on Thursday, 8 May 2008.
The workshop will look at key air safety issues, such as flying skills and operations at local aerodromes.
Experts from CASA will make presentations on these topics and lead discussions about a range of local safety issues.
CASA's Michelle Harris says the workshop will help to improve air safety around Goondiwindi.
“Giving Goondiwindi pilots extra training will lift their safety skills to even higher levels,” Ms Harris says.
“All pilots receive comprehensive training but this workshop means they will be even better equipped to fly safely at all times and deal with emergencies.
“Goondiwindi has a good air safety record but accidents do happen and everyone in aviation must work harder to keep the local skies safe.
“This national series of workshops in regional Australia is a key to better air safety for local communities.”
The workshop is being held at the McIntyre Aero Club on Thursday 8 May 2008 May from 6pm.
All local pilots are urged to attend.
CASA is hosting a free BBQ on the night for everyone who takes part in the workshop.
