Mackay Joins National Air Safety Campaign
Mackay will next week host a special workshop for local pilots as part of a national air safety campaign.
The Civil Aviation Safety Authority is staging the free AvSafety workshop at the Mackay Aero Club on Wednesday 30 April 2008.
The workshop will look at key air safety issues, including flying in bad weather.
Experts from CASA will make presentations on these topics and lead discussions about a range of local safety issues.
CASA’s Michelle Harris says the workshop will help to improve air safety around Mackay.
“Giving Mackay pilots extra training will lift their safety skills to even higher levels,” Ms Harris says.
“All pilots receive comprehensive training but this workshop means they will be even better equipped to fly safely at all times and deal with emergencies.
“Mackay has a good air safety record but accidents do happen and everyone in aviation must work harder to keep the local skies safe.
“This national series of workshops in regional Australia is a key to better air safety for local communities.”
The workshop is being held at the Mackay Aero Club on Wednesday 30 April 2008 from 6pm.
All local pilots are urged to attend.
CASA is hosting a free BBQ on the night for everyone who takes part in the workshop.
