Chinchilla Joins National Air Safety Campaign

Chinchilla will this week host a special workshop for local pilots as part of a national air safety campaign.

The Civil Aviation Safety Authority is staging the free AvSafety workshop at the Chinchilla Aero Club on Wednesday 23 April 2008.

The workshop will look at key air safety issues, including aircraft maintenance and fuel management.

Experts from CASA will make presentations on these topics and lead discussions about a range of local safety issues.

CASA’s Peter Gibson says the workshop will help to improve air safety around Chinchilla and through the Western Downs region.

“Giving pilots from Chinchilla and the Western Downs extra training will lift their safety skills to even higher levels,” Mr Gibson says.

“All pilots receive comprehensive training but this workshop means they will be even better equipped to fly safely at all times and deal with emergencies.

“Chinchilla and the Western Downs have a good air safety record but accidents do happen and everyone in aviation must work harder to keep the local skies safe.

“This national series of workshops in regional Australia is a key to better air safety for local communities.”

The workshop is being held at the Chinchilla Aero Club on Wednesday 23 April 2008 from 6pm.

All local pilots are urged to attend.

CASA is hosting a free BBQ on the night for everyone who takes part in the workshop.
