Gold Coast air safety day
A special aviation safety day for Gold Coast pilots is being held this weekend at Jacobs Well.
The Civil Aviation Safety Authority is staging the safety day as part of a national air safety campaign.
Aviation experts will make a series of safety presentations at Heck Field aerodrome at Jacobs Well on Saturday 17 November 2007.
In the spotlight will be key safety issues including pilot skills and training, aircraft maintenance and pilot communications.
Experts from CASA will make presentations on these topics, as well as leading discussions about local safety issues.
CASA’s Peter Gibson says the safety day will make a real difference to air safety on the Gold Coast and surrounding regions.
“Education and training are keys to better air safety,” Mr Gibson says.
“This safety day will help to improve air safety on the Gold Coast and throughout south-east Queensland. That’s good news for pilots and passengers.
“The Gold Coast and south-east Queensland have a good air safety record but we must continue to work to prevent accidents.”
The safety day is being held at the Gold Coast Sport Flying Club from 11am on Saturday 17 November 2007.
All local pilots are urged to attend.
CASA is hosting a free BBQ for everyone who takes part in the safety day.
