Air safety workshops for Parkes and Forbes
Special aviation safety workshops for local pilots are being held this week in Parkes and Forbes.
The Civil Aviation Safety Authority is staging the free workshops as part of a national air safety campaign.
Aviation experts will conduct the workshops in Forbes on Wednesday 7 March and Parkes on Thursday 8 March.
The workshops will look at key air safety issues including flying in bad weather, fuel management and operations in controlled airspace.
Experts from CASA will make presentations on these topics, as well as leading discussions about local safety issues.
CASA's Peter Gibson says the workshops will make a real difference to air safety in the Central West.
“Education and training are keys to better air safety,” Mr Gibson says.
“These workshops will help to improve air safety in the Central West. That's good news for pilots and passengers.
“The Central West has a good air safety record but we must continue to work to prevent accidents.”
The Forbes workshop is being held at the Forbes Aero Club on Wednesday 7 March, starting at 6pm.
In Parkes the workshop is on at the Parkes Aero Club on Thursday 8 March, from 6pm.
All local pilots are urged to attend.
CASA is hosting a free BBQ on the nights for everyone who takes part in the workshops.
