New help for flying training industry
A new package of information to help Australia’s flying training industry has been published by the Civil Aviation Safety Authority.
An updated version of the popular Flight Instructor Manual is now available, as well as special guides for the assessment of flight instructors.
The flying training package will continue to improve the standard of training being offered to student pilots and lift safety performance over the longer term.
A second version of the Flight Instructor Manual has been produced after wide consultation with flying instructors across Australia.
Ian Ogilvie, a CASA flying training specialist, says industry flying instructors suggested a range of practical and important improvements to the Manual.
“CASA received valuable input from nearly 40 flying instructors on ways to make the Flight Instructor Manual even better and the result is a document that should be invaluable to every instructor,” Mr Ogilvie says.
“The Flight Instructor Manual is easy to read and understand and the update is based on industry experience and feedback.
“This Manual is a complete guide to elementary flying training and is a must for every Australian flying instructor.”
Flight Test Guides are now available for the initial issue of both flight instructor (aeroplane) grade 2 and grade 3 ratings.
Industry delegates who are assessing people applying to become grade 2 or 3 flight instructors must now follow the procedures in the guides. This will ensure a consistent and standard approach to the assessment of applicants.
The Guides will also be vital for people training to become a flying instructor.
The Flight Instructor Manual and the Flight Test Guides can be downloaded from CASA’s web site. Go to: http://www.casa.gov.au/aoc/training/index.htm
