CASA media release - Thursday 23 November 2006
CASA Christmas-New Year closure
The Civil Aviation Safety Authority will be closed for normal business for ten days over this year's Christmas-New Year holidays.
CASA's last day of normal business will be Friday 22 December. Offices will re-open on Tuesday 2 January 2007.
Aviation regulatory services provided by CASA will not be available during the closure, including licence renewals or variations to certificates or permissions.
People or aviation businesses who anticipate they will need regulatory services during this time must act now and contact CASA well before the holiday period.
Depending on the services required people in the aviation industry should make contact with a CASA General Aviation or Air Transport field office, the CASA Licensing and Registration Centre or the CASA Service Centre.
General Aviation and Air Transport field offices can be telephoned through the central switch on 131 757.
For licensing, registration and pilot medical matters, contact the CASA Licensing and Registration Centre on 1300 737 032.
The CASA Service Centre can be reached on 136 773.
During the ten day holiday period CASA staff will be available to help with urgent aviation safety matters. People are asked to limit inquiries to safety issues that need immediate attention.
During the holidays the CASA duty officer can be reached by calling 131 757.
Media enquiries should be directed to the Corporate Communications manager, Peter Gibson, on 0419 296 446.
Accidents and incidents must be reported to the Australian Transport Safety Bureau on 1800 011 034.
