Better air safety for Capricorn Coast
A special aviation workshop for local pilots is being held tomorrow in Rockhampton to improve air safety on the Capricorn Coast.
The Civil Aviation Safety Authority and the Rockhampton Aero Club are staging the free workshop as part of a national air safety campaign.
Aviation experts will conduct the workshop at Rockhampton Airport on Wednesday November 23.
The workshop will look at key air safety issues including understanding local weather conditions, flying in bad weather and pilot maintenance.
Experts from the Bureau of Meteorology and CASA will make presentations on these topics.
CASA’s Peter Gibson says the workshop will make a real difference to air safety in the region.
"Education and training are keys to better air safety," Mr Gibson says.
"This workshop will help to improve air safety on the Capricorn Coast and that’s good news for pilots and passengers.
"The Capricorn Coast has a good air safety record but we must continue to work to prevent accidents."
The workshop is being held at the Rockhampton Aero Club, starting at 6pm, on Wednesday November 23.
All local pilots are urged to attend.
CASA is hosting a free BBQ on the night for everyone who takes part in the workshop.
