CASA promises better service delivery
Pilots, maintenance engineers and aircraft owners are being promised new streamlined delivery of key services by the Civil Aviation Safety Authority.
CASA has created a centralised licensing and registration centre to improve the delivery of a range of services to people in the aviation industry.
Pilots and engineers will use the centre for all licensing services, while aircraft owners will go to the centre for registration matters.
The centre will also co-ordinate the processing of pilot medicals and Aviation Reference Numbers (ARNs).
Known as the CASA Licensing and Registration Centre – or CLARC – the new group will reduce the risk of delays and improve the consistency in the delivery of these services.
In the past CASA has administered personnel licensing functions in its field offices under a decentralised model that has not always provided consistent services.
Pilots and engineers can still visit CASA's field offices to deliver application forms and pay fees, but the administration and processing of licence and registration applications or changes will be done by the new centre.
However, for most licensing and registration services there will be no need to go to a CASA office, with forms able to be lodged directly with the centre.
All licences and registration documents will be issued from the centre, not by CASA field offices.
Roger Crosthwaite, of CASA's Personnel Licensing, Education and Training group, says the centre will ensure applications are tracked and managed in the most efficient way.
“In the past CASA's field offices have a done a great job managing licence services but they have been working with a system that needed improving ,” Mr Crosthwaite said.
“By creating CLARC we now have a system that will deliver a better and more consistent service to the aviation industry.”
