Better air safety for Western Queensland
Western Queensland pilots will be attending a special aviation workshop in Charleville tomorrow to improve air safety in the local region.
The Civil Aviation Safety Authority and the Charleville Aero Club are staging the free workshop in Charleville as part of a national air safety campaign.
Aviation experts will travel to Charleville to conduct the workshop on Thursday September 29.
The workshop will focus on local weather, pilot maintenance and visual flight rules flying.
A representative from the Bureau of Meteorology will provide a detailed analysis of local weather patterns, while an expert from CASA will provide tuition on pilot maintenance and visual flight rules operations.
CASA’s Peter Gibson says the workshop will make a difference to air safety in the region.
"Education and training are keys to better air safety," Mr Gibson says.
"This workshop will help to improve air safety in Charleville and surrounding areas and that’s good news for pilots and passengers.
"Western Queensland has a good air safety record but we must continue to work to prevent accidents."
The workshop is being held at the Charleville Aero Club, starting at 6pm, on Thursday September 29.
All local pilots are urged to attend.
CASA is hosting a free BBQ on the night for everyone who takes part in the workshop.
