Better air safety for NSW South Coast
South coast pilots will be working to improve air safety in the local region at a special aviation workshop in Moruya tomorrow.
The Civil Aviation Safety Authority and the Moruya Aero Club are staging the free workshop as part of a national air safety campaign.
Aviation experts will travel to Moruya to conduct the workshop on Tuesday September 27.
The workshop will focus on local weather, pilot maintenance and operations in controlled airspace.
A representative from the Bureau of Meteorology will provide a detailed analysis of local weather patterns, while an expert from CASA will provide tuition on pilot maintenance and operations in controlled airspace.
CASA’s Peter Gibson says the workshop will make a difference to air safety in the region.
“Education and training are keys to better air safety,” Mr Gibson says.
“This workshop will help to improve air safety on the South Coast and that’s good news for pilots and passengers.
“The South Coast has a good air safety record but we must continue to work to prevent accidents.”
The workshop is being held at the Moruya Aero Club, starting at 6pm on Tuesday September 27.
CASA is hosting a free BBQ on the night for everyone who attends.
