Better air safety for Emerald
Emerald's pilots are being urged to take part in a special regional aviation workshop being held next week.
The Civil Aviation Safety Authority is staging the free workshop to help pilots improve their skills in a range of key safety areas.
Aviation experts will travel to Emerald to conduct the workshop on Monday September 26.
The workshop will focus on local weather, pilot maintenance and visual flight rules flying.
A representative from the Bureau of Meteorology will provide a detailed analysis of local weather patterns, while an expert from CASA will provide tuition on pilot maintenance and visual flight rules operations.
CASA's Peter Gibson says the workshop is a great chance for everyone involved in aviation in the Emerald region to get together and learn.
“Education and training are keys to better air safety,” Mr Gibson says.
“This forum will help to improve air safety in Central Queensland and that's good news for pilots and passengers.
“ Central Queensland has a good air safety record but we must continue to work to prevent accidents.”
The workshop is being held at the Emerald Memorial Club, starting at 6pm on Monday September 26.
CASA is hosting a free BBQ on the night for everyone who attends.
