Better air safety for Wimmera
Wimmera pilots will be working to improve air safety at a special aviation forum being held at Horsham Airport tomorrow.
The Civil Aviation Safety Authority and the Horsham Aero Club are convening the free local aviation forum to look at a range of key safety issues.
Experts will make presentations on three issues important to pilots in the Wimmera region.
They are local weather, operations in and around controlled airspace and fuel management.
A representative from the Bureau of Meteorology will provide a detailed analysis of local weather patterns, while an expert from CASA will look at controlled airspace operations and fuel management.
The forum offers pilots the chance to improve their knowledge and skills, as well as to discuss and debate a range of safety issues.
CASA’s Peter Gibson says the forum is a great chance for everyone involved in aviation in the region to get together and learn.
“Education and training are keys to better air safety,” Mr Gibson says.
“This forum will help to improve air safety in Victoria’s west and that’s good news for pilots and passengers.
“The region has a good safety record but we need to continue to work to prevent accidents.”
The forum is being held at the Horsham Aero Club, starting at 6pm on Monday September 5.
CASA is hosting a free BBQ on the night for everyone who attends.
