Better air safety for Brisbane
Brisbane’s pilots will be working to improve air safety at a special Archerfield airport aviation forum being held tomorrow.
The Civil Aviation Safety Authority and the Royal Queensland Aero Club are convening the free aviation forum to look at a range of key safety issues.
Experts will make presentations on three issues which are important to pilots in the Brisbane region.
They are local weather, operations in and around controlled airspace and pilot maintenance.
A representative from the Bureau of Meteorology will provide a detailed analysis of local weather patterns, while an expert from CASA will look at pilot maintenance and controlled airspace operations.
The forum offers pilots the chance to improve their knowledge and skills, as well as to discuss and debate a range of safety issues.
CASA’s Peter Gibson says the forum is a great chance for everyone involved in aviation in the Brisbane region to get together and learn.
“Education and training are keys to better air safety,” Mr Gibson says.
“This forum will help to improve air safety across south west Queensland and that’s good news for pilots and passengers.
“The region has a good safety record but we need to continue to work to prevent accidents.”
The forum is being held at the Royal Queensland Aero Club at Archerfield Airport on Monday 22 August from 6pm.
CASA is hosting a free BBQ on the night for everyone who attends.
