New web site delivers better safety

Australia’s aviation industry has easier access to important safety information and regulations following a major upgrade of the Civil Aviation Safety Authority’s web site.

CASA’s new-look internet site is designed to help airlines, pilots, engineers, aircraft owners, aerodrome operators and air traffic controllers quickly find a wealth of information on maintaining and improving safety.

The streamlined web site also helps travellers and people with an interest in aviation discover the facts about air safety.

The new CASA web site places aviation operations into three easy-to-understand categories. They are: rules and procedures, people and aviation businesses.

‘Rules and procedures’ includes the current rules, rules in transition and proposed new rules.

‘People’ covers pilots, maintainers, aircraft owners and operators and air travellers.

‘Aviation business’ is the location for air operators, maintenance organisations and aerodromes.

On the other side of the upgraded front page of the CASA web site are a series of quick links to high-traffic pages such as the media centre, aircraft register, airworthiness directives and the on-line store.

CASA’s Corporate Communications manager, Peter Gibson, says the upgraded web site will make a positive contribution to air safety.

“CASA’s web site is now the first place people in the aviation industry go to for essential safety information,” Mr Gibson says.

“By making the CASA web site easier-to-use we are making it easier for the aviation industry to stay safe.

“The front page is clear and simple to follow and the navigation throughout the web site has been improved dramatically.

“Media people will find the new media centre contains a wealth of information about air safety and CASA.”
