Perth air safety summit

Perth is hosting a special one day air safety summit this week – with a focus on better safety for local airlines.

The Civil Aviation Safety Authority is providing high level aviation safety briefings for airline owners and managers.

A key outcome of the briefings will be improvements to safety for small airlines operating in Western Australia.

The day-long briefings will teach airline owners and managers skills related to safety management systems.

Safety management systems are used to reduce risk and improve overall performance in airlines and other aviation businesses.

While they have been used effectively in larger airlines, less information has been available for smaller operators on how safety management systems can be introduced and used effectively.

CASA has designed training and education materials for smaller air operators to explain safety management systems, as well as providing practical tools for everyday use.

CASA believes safety management systems can reduce the risk of air accidents and cut the long term accident rate.

The special briefing is being held on Friday 5 July at the Rydges Hotel, 815 Hay Street.

It is free and all West Australian airline owners and managers are urged to attend.
