CASA roadshow brings new aviation safety messages to Cairns
Far North Queensland pilots will be brought up to speed on the latest in aviation safety when the Civil Aviation Safety Authority takes its air safety "roadshow" to Cairns next week.
The Cairns roadshow is a four-day program of aviation safety workshops and seminars being held as part of CASA's 2001 national aviation safety tour.
CASA urges all those in commercial and general aviation in and around Cairns, and throughout North Queensland, to attend as many sessions of the roadshow as possible to update their knowledge and skills.
Aviation safety experts from CASA will be in Cairns from Tuesday 7 August to Saturday 11 August.
Other experts making presentations at the roadshow include a flying instructor, an accident investigator, a weather forecaster, an aircraft maintenance engineer and an aviation medical consultant who will talk about pilot disorientation during flight - and how to deal with it.
A representative from one of the major airlines will be available to discuss job opportunities.
CASA's Assistant Director, Aviation Safety Promotion, Mike Smith, says aviation is always changing and pilots need to be constantly refreshed.
"The roadshow features a series of workshops and seminars that present essential new information for pilots of all levels of experience and qualification," Mr Smith says.
The venue for the weekday workshops and seminars, and the all-day Flight Safety Forum on Saturday, is the Cairns Convention Centre, Cnr Wharf & Sheridan Streets.
All sessions are free although registration is required. Registration can be confirmed by telephone to CASA Aviation Safety Promotion on 131757
