CASA Media Release - Friday, 6 April 2001
New commitment to aviation industry

The Civil Aviation Safety Authority today delivered a special new service commitment to Australia's general aviation industry.

CASA is promising to improve and streamline the processing of vital paperwork and approvals for the general aviation sector.

A dedicated CASA Service Centre has been established to help both general aviation air operators and maintenance organisations.

The CASA Service Centre, located in Brisbane, will handle all air operator certificates and certificates of approval.

The Federal Minister for Regional Services, Territories and Local Government, Senator Ian MacDonald, opened the Centre today.

The CASA Service Centre is the first contact point for general aviation operators who need to renew, change or apply for air operator certificates or certificates of approval.

CASA's Director of Aviation Safety, Mick Toller, says the commitment to better service can and will be delivered by the new Centre.

"The CASA Service Centre will cut the delays in processing paperwork and ensure general aviation organisations are given the right information when they need it," Mr Toller says.

"Importantly, the Centre has a national monitoring system to trace individual applications from the day they are lodged through to the day of issue.

"That means an operator can accurately find out what's happening with their application at any time.

"With CASA technical and administrative staff on stand-by to provide guidance, all air operator certificate and certificate of approval enquiries are now just a telephone call away.

"This is CASA working to deliver better regulatory services for general aviation."
