Life will be easier for aviation businesses
Doing business with the Civil Aviation Safety Authority is about to become easier for Australia's general aviation operators.
CASA is to open a special service centre to help both air operators and maintenance organisations.
The CASA Service Centre will be the one-stop location for all general aviation Air Operator Certificate (AOC) and Certificate of Approval (COA) applications and questions.
It will handle applications for new certificates as well as renewals and variations.
Importantly, the new Centre will track all applications from the day they are lodged through to the day of certificate issue.
CASA's Director of Aviation Safety, Mick Toller, says the Service Centre will deliver real benefits to the general aviation sector.
"This will make life easier for people with AOC s and COAs," Mr Toller says.
"They won't have to find the right CASA office or the right CASA person to handle their business needs - instead they'll simply go to the CASA Service Centre.
"It will be a one-stop location with experienced CASA staff able to answer questions and help overcome any problems with your AOCs or COAs.
"General aviation people needing AOC and COA services will simply call 136 773 to contact the CASA Service Centre. This does not replace CASA's main telephone contact number, 131 757, for all other enquiries.
"By coordinating this work from one location CASA will improve its internal processes and streamline regulatory service delivery."
The CASA Service Centre is expected to open for business handling AOCs and COAs in April 2001. A further expansion of services is planned later this year.
