Changed exam time for Aeroplane ATPL and helicopter ATPL
With effect from 01 January 2009, the exam time for the aeroplane ATPL 'Aerodynamics & Aircraft Systems' exam (AASA) and the helicopter ATPL 'Aerodynamics & Aircraft Systems' exam (AASH) will each be reduced to 1.5 hours. Exam statistics over the years have indicated that the average time required by a candidate to complete the exam has been respectively 1.15 hours and 1 hour. This will result in a significant saving in supervision fees for the candidate.
5 November 2008
Use of VFR (Day) Work Booklet in PPL and CMET exams
Aeroplane and helicopter PPL and CPL candidates should also note that, with effect from 20 November 2008, in (e.g. CMET) questions which advise reference to a specific ARFOR in the VFR (Day) Booklet, that ARFOR should still be used, but all TAF in the Booklet (in pre-20 November 2008 format) shall be ignored.
TAF in the new format will be provided in the stem of some questions, where exam candidates could, in accordance with their flight planning assessment, use these TAF either by itself or together with the relevant ARFOR to answer the questions.
