The Safety Oversight Branch is responsible for the overall management of entry control and safety surveillance, allocation of operational resources, analysis of safety data, putting in place strategic intervention strategies and encouraging a greater acceptance by industry of its obligations to maintain high safety standards.

The Safety Oversight Branch is situated in the CASA Operations building, Brisbane Airport. The branch works closely with the CASA Service Centre (CSC) – a one-stop location for processing of Air Operator Certificate (AOC) and Certificate of Approval (COA) services for General Aviation.

Functions of the Safety Oversight Branch include:

  • Safety analysis & performance

  • International activities
