Socata MS 893 E
This is the only Socata MS 893 E currently on the Australia Register. The photo was taken by Mat Carlsberg at Caiguna while the aircraft was participating in the Mobil Outback Air Race.
This aircraft was built in France in 1974 and spent most of its life in Africa. It was imported into Australia about 6 years ago when its owner moved to Perth and was purchased by the current owners, Mr and Mrs Curtis, about a year ago.
"It's a nice little aircraft and we love it very much. It's not particularly fast (105 kts or thereabouts) but the handling is very light and smooth and its STOL characteristics mean you can land it anywhere. Its wings, flaps, and control surfaces are huge for an aircraft of its size."
