MRS Online - Update
The latest version of the client software is about to be sent to all DAMEs and DAOs. This version has a number of upgrades such as the new declaration form. Instructions on installing the new client software will be included in the package.
Please do not use the Test system for completing actual medicals. A number of DAMEs have done this and it causes major problems for us. To avoid having to repeat the medical examination, please make sure that you only complete and submit medical reports using the production system. (The test system is available from CASA’s website whereas the production system can only be installed using a CD – in a few cases, we have sent the production system installation files via email).
We will be sending you an email in the next couple of days setting out the instructions on how to install the new system. There will be instructions for existing users to upgrade the client software, instructions for those who have used the test system, and instructions for those who have not used the test system.
We will be sending you email notifications from time to time to let you know about critical MRS-Online events. For example system outages that happen when system maintenance is performed.
Please advise us whenever you update your email addresses so that we can be sure that you receive system notifications.
Elenore Karpfen has handed over the project manager role to Roger Crosthwaite to implement the new system.
CASA will provide an MRS-Online helpdesk for you that will be available during business hours. CASA is dedicated to providing as much help as possible. However, there will be instances where problems will arise that relate to the local IT system. It might be appropriate in some cases for our help people to talk to your IT support team.
DAME Liaison Officer changes
We are pleased to congratulate Tara Powell on her appointment to a higher-level job in the Compliance Division of CASA. I am sure you would agree that Tara has done a great job in the DAME liaison role over the last two years.
Walid Wazir has taken over Tara’s responsibilities so if you need to contact Walid, you can contact him on the phone at 02 6217 1642 or walid.wazir@casa.gov.au and I am sure Walid will make sure that your questions and problems are solved.
Applications for Reappointment
CASA has processed approximately 530 applications for reappointment under the new Civil Aviation Safety Regulations. There are 85 applications yet to be submitted. The DAME liaison team is working hard to complete the task as soon as possible.
If you have not made your application for reappointment, please do so without delay. Contact your liaison officer (Netty or Walid) if you have any questions about your reappointment.
If you have decided not to be reappointed, you are still obligated to notify your liaison officer of your resignation in writing and return your DAME/DAO stamp.
DAME Handbook Review
We are reviewing the Gastroenterology chapter of the handbook at a workshop at CASA on 14 September 2004. Dr Andrew Bryant will be the visiting specialist. CAA NZ will also be attending. If you would like to participate in the workshop please let us know by contacting Donna Growcock on 02 6217 1729 or donna.growcock@casa.gov.au for more information.
