Medical certification FAQs

How long does it generally take to issue a certificate?

Average time for a medical application to be assessed is approximately 3 weeks once all the required reports and the processing fee are received by CASA. Delays can be caused if there are complications with the examination report, the fee is not received, specialist’s reports are not received with the medical examination questionnaire, or where additional information is required.

Where is my certificate?

As soon as the application is assessed your certificate is sent by mail to the postal address we have recorded on our database. You should allow sufficient time for the mail to reach you.

If you have recently changed your contact details please complete the on-line address change form.

Your medical certificate will not be processed by CASA until the $75 fee has been paid.

What do I require for my next medical certificate?

In addition to the routine medical examination, you need to undergo other tests depending on your age and the class of medical certificate you are applying for. These additional tests are listed on the web site

If you have a significant medical condition that requires monitoring by CASA, you will have received a letter at the time your last certificate was issued telling you what reports would be required at your next medical. It is important to refer to that letter and make appointments before you do your medical with your DAME.
