4.1 Maximum Duty Period
4.1.1 The maximum duty period is to include any preflight duties, and any post-flight duties, with a minimum allowance of 45 minutes before the first flight and 15 minutes after the last flight of the duty period. Where a computerised flight planning service is used, the minimum allowance before flight can be reduced to 30 minutes.
4.2 Roster Limits
4.2.1 Flight crew shall not be rostered for duty periods longer than the number of hours specified on the following chart, as determined by the rostered start time and the number of sectors to be flown:

4.3 Extension of Flying Duty Period by Split Duty
4.3.1 A duty period which contains a rest period of four consecutive hours or more at suitable sleeping accommodation may be extended by up to four hours, with a maximum duty period of 16 hours.
4.3.2 Where the rest period encompasses the hours 0100 to 0400, the rest period shall be an uninterrupted period of at least seven hours at suitable sleeping accommodation, with a maximum duty period of 16 hours.
4.4 Flight Crew's Discretion to extend Duty Period
4.4.1 A duty period already commenced may be extended by up to two hours when
it is operationally necessary, in order to complete the objective of the duty
and each flight crew member considers themselves mentally and physically fit
for the extension. The pilot in command shall submit a report as specified in
Section 3 para 3.5.
4.5 Extension of Duty Period for Positioning
4.5.1 At the completion of rostered flight deck duties, a duty period may be extended at the flight crew member's discretion to allow positioning to a suitable destination. The time spent in positioning shall be considered duty time for the purpose of determining subsequent time free of duty requirements and cumulative duty as per para 4.11.
4.6 Standby
4.6.1 The maximum allowance continuous time on standby is 16 hours.
4.6.2 The maximum allowable duty period following call out from standby is to be decreased by the number of hours that the standby time exceeds 12 hours.
4.6.3 A standby completed in which callout does not occur is to be followed by a time free of all duty of at least 10 hours.
4.7 Time Free of Duty
4.7.1 Subject to the provisions below, the time free of duty shall be a minimum of ten consecutive hours. The time free of duty shall be increased by one hour for every hour or part of an hour that the preceding duty period exceeds 10 hours.
4.7.2 Where the preceding duty period does not exceed 10 hours and the time free of duty includes the hours between 2200 to 0600 local time, the time free of duty may be reduced to nine consecutive hours.
4.7.3 Where a duty period has exceeded 12 hours, the time free of duty may be reduced to 12 hours, provided that the subsequent time free of duty is at least 36 hours.
4.8 Days Free of Duty
4.8.1 In any consecutive 8 days, a flight crew member shall have one period
free of all duty for a minimum of 36 consecutive hours duration, comprising
two local nights starting before 2200 and finishing not earlier than 0500 hours
local time: in any consecutive 14 days, a flight crew member shall have two
such periods free of all duty, and in any consecutive 28 days, the flight crew
member shall have four such periods free of all duty.
4.9 Maximum Flight Deck Duty
4.9.1 A flight crew member shall not exceed 9 continuous hours of flight deck duty without a break of at least 30 consecutive minutes from all flight deck duty.
4.10 Cumulative Limit on Flying Hours
4.10.1 The total flight time accrued in any consecutive 28 days shall not exceed 100 hours.
4.10.2 The total flight time accrued under this Part during any consecutive 365 day period shall not exceed 1000 hours.
4.11 Limit on Cumulative Duty Time
4.11.1 The cumulative duty in any consecutive 14 days shall not exceed 90 hours.
