Fokker F27 Mk 50 Main Landing Gear Junction Box - Maintenance

All Fokker B.V. F27 MK50 aircraft.
Background
CASA has been advised by the Australian Transport Safety Bureau (ATSB) by release of Aviation Occurrence Brief 200300008 of an incident involving a Fokker B.V. F27 Mk 50 aircraft. An aircraft had been reported to have experienced a loss of cabin pressure at flight level 250 attributed to an electrical fault caused by moisture ingress into the right main landing gear oleo strut electrical junction box.
Recommendations
All operators should ensure the System of Maintenance is amended to include detailed inspections of the electrical junction boxes located on both main landing gear oleo struts are performed at regular intervals. This inspection should include:
- the removal of the cover to check for moisture contamination within the junction box
- inspection of internal connections for condition and security
- re-installation and sealing of the electrical junction box cover to prevent moisture ingress.
