Australian Technical Standard Orders (ATSO)

As per CASR Part 21, Subpart O, an Australian Technical Standard Order contains minimum performance standards for specified articles (ie. materials, parts, processes and appliances) used on civil aircraft. CASA requires that the minimum performance standard must meet an acceptable level of safety for the article.

Any person may request CASA to issue a new ATSO, or revise or amend an existing ATSO, by submitting the request through their nearest CASA office. The request should include a description of the article for which the ATSO is requested, together with the proposed minimum performance standard for the article.
